How to Measure for Eyelet Curtains

Getting the right measurements ensures your eyelet curtains hang beautifully and fit perfectly. Follow these easy steps before placing your order.

Measuring the Width

If you already have a curtain pole:

  • Measure the width of the pole only, between the decorative finials or end caps.
  • Do not include the finials — we only need the usable part of the pole where the curtain will hang.

If you don’t have a pole yet:

  • Measure the width of your window reveal (the inside frame).
  • Then add extra width on both sides so your curtains can extend past the window, giving a fuller look and better light control.
  • Typically, add 15–20 cm (6–8 inches) on each side.

Measuring the Length (Drop)

Decide where you’d like your curtains to finish — at the sill, below the sill, or to the floor.

At the Sill:

  • Measure from the top of the pole to 1 cm above the sill.
  • Then add 4 cm to allow for the fabric that sits above the eyelets.
  • This is the final measurement we require.

Below the Sill:

  • Measure from the top of the pole to your chosen length below the sill (usually 15–20 cm).

  • If there’s a radiator below the sill, measure to 3 cm above the radiator instead.

  • Then add 4 cm for the fabric above the pole.

  • This is the final measurement we require.

To the Floor:

  • Measure from the top of the pole to 1.5 cm above the floor — this prevents the curtain from dragging or becoming soiled.

  • If you prefer a luxurious “puddled” look, add the extra length you’d like them to drape onto the floor.

  • Finally, add 4 cm for the fabric that sits above the pole.

  • This is the final measurement we require

Tisaz Tip

For a full, elegant appearance, we recommend curtain widths 2 to 2.5 times the width of your pole. This ensures beautiful, even pleats when your curtains are drawn
